Recently on April 10, 2014, USCIS made an official statement regarding the random selection lottery of H1B cap subject petitions for the year 2013 (FY15). According to USCIS, the random selection lottery has been officially completed. USICIS has completed the lottery selection for the 20,0000 advanced-degree or “master’s cap” exemptions in addition to the standard 65,000 regular cap.
This season, USCIS reportedly received approximately 172,500 H1B petitions in total during the brief five-day filing period of 4/1-4/17. It is important to take note that this is a significant increase over last year’s total H1B’s received amount. The topic of significant and annual increases in the number of filed petitions is not a new phenomena and has been reported widely. This year’s increase could add some momentum to those advocating for higher cap numbers due to a higher influx of received petitions.
These statistics will undoubtedly begin to surface as the information is disseminated further, Please check reference the Pride Immigration Law Firm PLLC blog section for continuing coverage.
